Samuel Ramos Flores, 31, appeared in San Joaquin County Superior Court on charges of battery on a peace officer, battery on emergency personnel, attempting to remove a peace officer’s firearm and resisting an officer.
Flores sat alone in the jury section of the courtroom on Monday dressed in orange jail-issue shirt and pants. He rocked slowly in his chair and was informed of the court proceedings through a Spanish interpreter.
Judge Ron Northup granted an email request by Deputy District Attorney Ron Indran, who was not present, set the case for 1:25 p.m. on Jan. 16 in the Manteca courthouse.
According to Tracy police, was walking on Hawthorne Road around midnight in his underwear on Feb. 2 when Officer Joel Petty tried to stop and check on him.
Flores allegedly lunged at the 13-year veteran’s gun and two men fought for two and a half minutes before additional officers arrived at the scene.
Flores remains at San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp with no bail.
