According to Raley’s spokesman John Segale, the contract wasn’t finalized late Friday until a third party helped conciliate a dispute between the store and United Food and Commercial Workers union about holiday and Sunday premium pay.
“The bottom line is they did ratify the contract late Friday afternoon,” Segale said Monday, Dec. 24. “I heard it passed, and that was good enough for us.”
Segale was unable to provide details about the finalized contract or specifics about the premium pay dispute.
UFCW officials were not immediately available for comment.
Before a contract was signed, Raley’s employees across the state, including workers at the Tracy store at 2550 S. Tracy Blvd., staged a nine-day strike. The strike ended when a tentative agreement was reached Nov. 13.
