He had lived 46 years in Tracy, where he owned and ran Mission Motel from 1963 to 2003.
Mr. Davis was born April 5, 1924, in Canton, Ohio, and served during World War II in the U.S. Army 9th Armored Infantry Division that fought at the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star Decoration.
He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ripon Post 1051, the 173rd Airborne Brigade Association, the Military Order of the Cootie, Tracy Loyal Order of the Moose 2283, West Side Pioneers Association and Tracy Wildlife Association.
Survivors include his life partner of 33 years, Ruth Sanford of Tracy; and a nephew, Eric Petersen.
Two sisters, Diane Patricia Davis-Kline and Geraldine Davis-Petersen, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., followed by burial in Tracy Cemetery, 501 E. Schulte Road. Visitation will be observed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the mortuary.
