MH residents invited to show off holiday style

MOUNTAIN HOUSE — The deadline to hang lights and arrange decorations for an annual holiday contest been extended to Dec. 10.

However, residents must still register online no later than Nov. 30 to enter the competition for American Express gift cards valued at $150 to $500.

The free contest is open to all residents age 18 and older living in the Mountain House villages of Bethany, Questa, Wicklund and Altamont.

Houses must be decorated by the Dec. 10 deadline so a professional photographer can take pictures of them Dec. 11 and 12. Lights must be lit by 5:30 p.m. on those days. Pictures will be posted online during the voting period, Dec. 14 to 20.

Voters can register an email address to submit one vote a day.

Each contestant will receive a yard sign to identify the home as a contest participant. Winners will be announced Dec. 21.

Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Jingle Bells Rocked, $500; Silver Bells Shone, $250; and Decked the Halls, $150. A randomly selected voter will also receive a $100 gift card as “Santa’s Helper.”
