Hudson is being charged in San Joaquin County Superior Court on charges of assault with a firearm, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and inflicting great bodily injury. He was arraigned in superior court on Oct. 24 in Department 36.
Indran, who was assigned the case after it was determined Hudson would not be tried in the juvenile court system, revealed the teen’s name in an email on Friday, Nov. 9. Tracy police had previously declined to release his name because it is department policy to not identify a suspect who is a minor, even if that person is being charged as an adult.
According to police, the shooting took place around 11 p.m. on Oct. 13 outside of a Sweet 16 Birthday party that was being held at 3502 Mars Court, Ste. 141.
The shooter, later identified as Hudson, allegedly fired three to six shots into a crowd of people as they ran following an argument between two groups of men outside the party, police said.
The 17-year-old was shot once in the back of his right shoulder. He was taken to Sutter Tracy Community Hospital on the night of the shooting and released a few days later. He is expected to make a full recovery from his injury, but police said the bullet would have to be surgically removed at a later date.
Also arrested on the night of the shooting was Daniel Garcia, 19, of Tracy.
Garcia was seen speeding away from the party area by police, who stopped him on Tracy Boulevard after a brief chase. He told officers he was driving the injured teenager to the hospital. He was charged with evasion and possession of narcotics for sale.
According to a clerk at the Manteca Branch of San Joaquin County Superior Court, all charges against Garcia were dropped by Deputy District Attorney Lon Hansen during a hearing on Nov. 5.
Hudson is due back in Stockton court for further arraignment at 2 p.m. on Nov. 15 in Department 36. He’s being held at the San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall in French Camp.

As long as we have people who will look at criminal acts like shooting someone as a mistake, or come out with the oh but he or she is such a good kid - other than shooting someone, this kind of thing will become more acceptable as an oh well event.
When we stop being outraged and lose the will to punish criminals to the fullest extent of the law we all lose as a society. I believe we are at a point where there should be one and done crimes, murder someone, rape a child, sorry, you are permanently out of the game, bye bye.
