The council will discuss whether to end the exclusive negotiating rights agreement with Tracy’s California Blast, and then will consider a new agreement with the new development entity, Spirit of California.
City development and engineering services director Andrew Malik said in his report to the council that the developer did not meet the financial verification requirements of the agreement.
Developer James Rogers, CEO of Spirit of California, said he has the information the city wanted, and will be at the meeting to urge the council to support the new agreement.
In the meantime, we do enjoy visiting the locally owned restaurants. I feel that franchises tend to lose that local feeling.
Like working on your home or yard especially if you have the proper skills for do it yourself things like flooring or landscaping? We have Lowes, Home Depot, Orchard, Ace, and other places to get what we need.
Golf? We have what I believe is a great public course which is never crowded and inexpensive. We also have a private course with reasonable membership fees.
Weight training? World Gym.
Like playing sports? Numerous fields with possibly more on the way.
Flying? Tracy Airport
Nice summer evening or weekend driving? All kinds of open roads.
Education & knowledge? We have a library.
Eating out? We have plenty of sit down & fast food restuarants. Granted, we don't have what I would consider a high end dinner restaurant but I doubt something like that would thrive out here anyway.
From what people with kids have written here, the Tracy schools are pretty good.
Culture? The Grand Theater. I don't follow the events too closely so maybe it can be improved but it's here.
We have choices in life. If Tracy doesn't offer what certain people want, move. I'm not saying that to be nasty or sarcastic, it's just common sense. Can't afford to move, well then learn to enjoy what's here and relax. Why spend so much effort complaining? The other option is to strike up the band, go to council meetings, petition, vote in & out the politicians who best share your views. If you don't get what you want, boo hoo, that's life.
I do have to correct you in that we don't have a Loew's in town (unless I somehow missed it). One of those would also do well here since almost everyone I know personally does some sort of home improvement.
I actually prefer InShape to World Gym because it offers activities for my entire family. I mention that because it's yet another option for folks who find "nothing to do" here in Tracy.
Good call on the library. I think it's actually become almost forgotten to most people looking for entertainment. In addition to being a source of knowledge or entertainment, they're eager for volunteers, and it's actually quite rewarding to donate your time to the library (especially if you're unable to donate much money).
As far as the dining, I think the good stuff is on its way - eventually. There's great restaurants in nearby places like Dublin, and people cross through Tracy from the east to get to those restaurants. It's only a matter of time before someone takes a chance on Tracy and brings in something like a Johnny Garlic's, and that will hopefully get the ball rolling.
As far as the schools go, they're not the worst, but they're far from great.
This may or may not be a place to relax. Did you mean the library? This might be more like a race track and casinos.
And I think the article said they asked to look at specifically, funding. That was the specific issue, mentioned.
It does not say anything about cultural development, unless you are implying that a casino might loosely fall under the category of what you called, "cultural growth".
Are you promoting casinos to help save California schools, or something?
