The team playoffs will begin on Oct. 29 at locations to be determined.
West 5, Tokay 4
The Wolf Pack finished the Tri-City Athletic League season in second place behind St. Mary’s. West (17-3, 8-2 TCAL) beat Tokay of Lodi in the Wolf Pack’s final league match on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at West High.
West seniors Emma Bell and Regina Pacheco, the Pack’s No. 1 and No. 2 singles players, both won their matches in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Also in the singles, West senior Chloe Pounds won her match 6-2, 6-2, and in the doubles West’s Coleen Andrada and Kristen Steed won their match 6-4, 6-1, and Abby Sevilla and Arianne Coleto won their match 6-4, 6-2.
Tokay won three of the singles matches, including one that went to three sets with Maya Hastings beating West’s Maliyah Shavers 1-6, 7-5, 10-8. Tokay also won the No. 1 doubles match in straight sets.
West 9, Stagg 0
The West High girls tennis team clinched its place in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs with a 9-0 win on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at San Joaquin Delta College against Stagg High.
West won all of the singles matches in straight sets, and only the No. 1 doubles match went to three sets as Julie Schobey and Ashley Phillips beat their opponents 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.
Senior Emma Bell, West’s No. 1 player, and the doubles teams of Kristen Steed and Coleen Andrada and Abby Sevilla and Arianne Coleto won their matches 6-0, 6-0, and singles players Regina Pacheco, Jessica Diaz and Chloe Pounds won their matches 6-0, 6-1. Maliyah Shavers won her match 6-0, 6-3, and Allie Bettencourt beat her opponent 6-1, 6-4.
Tracy 9, Bear Creek 0
Tracy High’s girls tennis team finished the San Joaquin Athletic Association season in second place behind Lodi (10-0 SJAA).
The Bulldogs (10-4, 7-3 SJAA) wrapped up the league season with a win at Bear Creek High in Stockton on Oct. 11.
Tracy won all matches in straight sets on Thursday, the closest in the No. 1 singles where Tracy senior Chiara Adamo beat May Simpson 7-5, 6-1. Tracy’s doubles teams of Sarah Kellogg and Keara O’Brien, Katrina Broughton and Gianna Violante and Kaitlin Mizuno and Taylor Hurlock all won their matches with straight 6-0, 6-0 shut outs.
West 9, Edison 0
The Wolf Pack logged another win at Edison High in Stockton on Oct. 11.
West singles players Emma Bell, Regina Pacheco, Jessica Diaz, and Chloe Pounds all won in 6-0, 6-0 matches, and West’s other players and doubles teams also won in straight sets.
Kimball 5, East Union 4
The Jaguars prevailed in a close Valley Oak League match at home on Oct. 11, against East Union of Manteca. Kimball (4-7 VOL) and East Union split the singles matches, each won a doubles match, and Kimball won the No. 3 doubles match by forfeit.
Kimball sophomore Kylie Moxley brought a strong third set in her No. 2 singles match against Brooke Neindorf to win it 6-2, 1-6, 6-0. Kimball won its other matches in straight sets, and also played close matches in the No. 4 singles, where East Union’s Nikki Reichmuth beat Kimball senior Jessica Agcanas 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, and in the No. 1 doubles, where East Union’s Victoria Vezaldemos and Olivia Vezaldemos beat Kimball’s Angela Egbuchulam and Gigi Vega 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
