Tracy police received 173 calls for service Wednesday. The following is a sampling of those calls.
12:22 a.m.: Police arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of drug possession on the 800 block of South Tracy Boulevard.
8:24 a.m.: Police arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of being drunk in public on the 600 block of West 12th Street, where a caller had reported a man passed out in the bushes. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
9:17 a.m.: A caller reported that a man posing as a drug enforcement agent kept calling him on the 1500 block of Joseph Menusa Lane. The caller said the man warned that it would going to cost him if he didn’t cooperate. He said he was told he had an outstanding warrant for selling prescription drugs, but he didn’t know what the man meant. Police checked and found it was a scam.
9:55 a.m.: A store clerk called to report that a man stole 23 boxes of gum from am/pm at 2430 Joe Pombo Parkway. He said the thief left in a Mercedes convertible.
11:28 a.m.: A caller reported a man sleeping in a van at Tracy Sports Complex, 955 Crossroads Drive. He said the van had been parked there for weeks. Police found that the man was a security guard in the area and was sleeping in his van to cut down on his commute costs.
11:39 a.m.: A caller on the 200 block of Robert Gabriel Drive said he tried to cash a settlement check for $1,279.78 and his bank told him it was fraudulent. He said he got the check in the mail.
1:31 p.m.: Police arrested a teenage boy of unknown age on suspicion of possessing drugs at Hoyt Park, 234 Dale Odell Drive. A caller had reported a teenage boy in a red hat passing something to a woman in the park, adding that the boy had been in the park since 10 a.m. The teenager was booked into San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall in French Camp.
2:58 p.m.: Someone burned papers at the back door of Millennium Dental, 436 W. Beverly Place, according to a dental clerk. She said the room holds the practice’s nitrous oxide and oxygen supplies, and she feared the culprit was trying to burn down the building. Police are investigating.
4:26 p.m.: Police arrested a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman for outstanding warrants near Buthmann Avenue and Clover Road after a caller reported a man walking down Clover Road with a knife. The man had warrants for a motor vehicle violation and driving under the influence, while the woman had a warrant for vehicle theft.
5:07 p.m.: A woman called to report that her laptop was missing from her apartment on the 200 block of West Grant Line Road. She said she had left the back door open so her children could go in and out.
8:33 p.m.: Police arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence near Tracy Boulevard and Clover Road. The man had driven up onto the median, blocking traffic.
