Services will be Aug. 17 for Agnes Chantri, 98, a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, who died July 31 in Tracy.

Mrs. Chantri was born May 3, 1914, in Danville and lived in Martinez before moving to Tracy three years ago.

She worked 18 years on the cannery line for H.J. Heinz Co. and was a member of the Luso-American League and senior centers in Manteca and Stockton.

Survivors include six children, Marjory Shiffer of Ceres, Samuel Mendonca of Mexico, Sylvia Grigsby, and her husband, Jeff, of Seattle, Theresa Foeller of Klamath Falls, Ore., Patricia Stephens of Tracy and Mary Brock, and her husband, Frank, of Sacramento; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Chantri of Tracy; a brother, Ed Gasper of Colusa; a sister, Rosalie Martin of Hollister; 28 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband of 44 years, Philip Chantri, and a son, also named Philip Chantri, preceded her in death.

The Aug. 17 memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. Burial will be private. Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Chantri’s name may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
