Services will be Friday, June 29, for Lillie Beatrice Howard, 91, of Tracy, who died Saturday, June 23, at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.

Mrs. Howard was born April 15, 1921, in Cheneyville, La., and worked 20 years as a nurse’s aide at Driftwood Convalescent Hospital in Fremont. She lived in Tracy the past 16 years, where she was a member and spiritual deaconess at Newlight Baptist Church.

Survivors include 10 children, Oscar Howard, and his wife, Shirley, of Arlington, Texas, Gladys Pearson, and her husband, James, of Patterson, Rufus Howard, and his wife, Janice, of Stockton, Alfred Howard Jr., Catherine Redmond, and her husband, David, and Rosa Arrington, all of Tracy, Patricia Howard of Castro Valley, Lonnie Howard, and his wife, Dawn, of Elk Grove and Larry Howard, and his wife, Sheri, and Cynthia Howard, all of Austin, Texas.

Also surviving are 37 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 65 years, Alfred Howard Sr.; and three siblings, Edward Prater, Sally Sullivan and Miriah Prater.

Friday’s funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Newlight Baptist Church, 11480 W. Larch Road, followed by burial in Tracy Cemetery, 600 E. Schulte Road. Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., is handling arrangements.
