A woman called police at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, to report that a woman at the Chevron Station at 755 S. Tracy Blvd. reportedly asked her daughter if she wanted to look at a couple puppies inside a van. The girl didn’t see any puppies, and became more suspicious as the woman became more insistent that she step into the van. The van was gone when police arrived.

Tracy police logged 204 calls for service Wednesday, June 27, including the following reports:

12:21 a.m.: Someone at Ralph’s Club, 444 E. 11th St., reported about eight people in a fight behind the building. Police called an ambulance, but the person who appeared to be injured didn’t want medical attention and didn’t want to press charges.

1:48 a.m.: A woman told police that someone broke into her Cadillac Escalade at the park-and-ride lot at 2650 Naglee Road. The thief took her registration, car battery and garage door opener. She also noted that her husband said some unknown person had closed the garage door at their home. She had the Cadillac towed and asked police for extra patrols around her house.

5 a.m.: Police responded to a car fire on the first block of West Ninth Street. The fire appeared to be electrical in origin. The car’s owner told police that he hadn’t driven the car for a couple months and planned to send the car to the junkyard anyway.

9:43 a.m.: A man on the 900 block of West Grant Line Road told police that a neighbor has been harassing him and his daughter, most recently by yelling obscenities into the girl’s bedroom window at 2 a.m. Police told him how to get a restraining order and advised him to call next time the man causes trouble.

10:20 a.m.: Police went to Santa Rita Jail in Alameda County to pick up two people who were wanted on warrants out of Tracy. A 43-year-old woman was wanted on previous felony drug possession charges and previous misdemeanor burglary, forgery and petty theft charges. A 26-year-old man was wanted on a parole violation plus previous felony robbery, assault and threats charges related to a robbery on the 100 block of West Clover Road back in January, where two men were sent to the hospital after they were beaten up. Police took the woman and man to San Joaquin County Jail, where they were held without bail pending a Thursday morning court hearing in Manteca.

10:57 a.m.: A man went to police headquarters to report that the tenant in his house on the 1400 block of Suellen Drive hasn’t paid his rent in more than six months and owes him more than $10,000. The man told police that he went to collect, and the tenant, who reportedly said he is a corrections officer at San Quentin Prison, advised him to not come onto the property again.

11:08 a.m.: A man told police that a neighbor on the first block of West Emerson Avenue came to his door and yelled at him, and then nearly ran the man over with a motorcycle.

1:11 p.m.: A woman told police that her 12-year-old neighbor to the rear had used a BB gun to shoot at the woman’s cats and dog.

1:34 p.m.: Two men stole a car battery from the front porch of a house on the 100 block of West Whittier Avenue, according to a man who called police and then went to look for the men. Police found two men walking without the battery along Lowell Avenue and arrested one, age 35, who was on probation for a drug use charge, on misdemeanor warrants for previous petty theft charges. He was taken to San Joaquin County Jail and held on $70,000 bail pending a Thursday afternoon court hearing in Manteca.

2:06 p.m.: Three aggressive panhandlers were reported in front of Walmart, 3010 W. Grant Line Road. Police gave them a warning.

2:20 p.m.: A woman on the 2900 block of Ponte Mira Way told police that she recently remembered that her husband used to drug her and then prostitute her out. She then told police that she didn’t have time to go into details, and would call back later.

2:44 p.m.: A person at Save Mart, 875 S. Tracy Blvd., told police that a man and a woman had just vandalized a car. Police found them and arrested the 20-year-old woman on suspicion of vandalism, and also on two warrants for previous vandalism charges. The woman was booked and released. The man was also arrested on a warrant and on suspicion of vandalism.

5:28 p.m.: A Lexus ES300 reportedly rear-ended a Ford Taurus near the intersection of Corral Hollow Road and Golden Leaf Lane. Nobody was injured, and police ordered the Lexus towed and impounded for 30 days after learning that the driver had a suspended license.

10:26 p.m.: Someone heard a couple gunshots near the 900 block of Mabel Josephine Court and also reported seeing muzzle flashes. A police officer in the area also heard the shots and investigated, but didn’t find anyone with a gun.

10:57 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a man and a woman arguing in front of the 7-Eleven, 455 W. Grant Line Road. Police arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. He was taken to San Joaquin County Jail, where he was booked and released.
