The Southside Community Organization is making plans for the annual Sept. 16 fiesta.

The celebration, which commemorates Mexican Independence Day, is Sept. 15, a Saturday, according to Angelo Santos, chairman.

A parade will take participants from the Guadalupe Center on Third Street to McDonald Park for food, entertainment, an art display, vendor booths and a handball tournament.

Committee members have sounded the call for candidates for Miss Tracy Latina 2012 and the 16th of September Queen 2012. Young women who are interested should contact Santos at 221-2336.

Also being sought are vendors, parade participants and entries in the Chicano Art Contest and handball tournament, Santos said. Deadline for all entries is Aug. 27.

For information: Angelo Santos, 221-2336.
