Hoffman — who plans to play goalie and major in biology — made his decision to attend CSULA after attending a training camp there in April.
He will join a Golden Eagles team that went 15-2-6 in 2011 and won the California Collegiate Athletic Association conference title and the NCAA Division II Western Region title. The team was also ranked No. 8 in the U.S. by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Hoffman started as a member of the Tracy High soccer team as a freshman. During his senior year, he was named the San Joaquin Athletic Association’s Most Valuable Goalie.
He also was a member of the wrestling team and earned four scholar-athlete awards, an academic block T and a community service block.
Hoffman played for Tracy United Competitive Soccer Club Atletico and last year made the move to the Pleasanton Ballistic under-23 team.
Until Hoffman heads to Los Angeles in late August, he will continue to provide goalie training for players in Tracy Youth Soccer League and play for the Pleasanton Ballistics.
