Pet owners should be happy to hear a new daily veterinary clinic has opened in the Red Maple Village shopping center.

Affordable Pet Vet Clinic, 2630 S. Tracy Blvd., next door to Raley’s, opened its doors on April 18 and is owned and operated by veterinarian Kuppe Nagaraj.

Nagaraj’s specialty at the seven-day-a-week clinic is the spaying and neutering of canines and felines. He’s performed more than 50,000 during his 18-year career.

He first came to the United States in 1992 from India, where he had worked as a veterinarian for 10 years.

His first position in the U.S. was with the Humane Society as a veterinarian in Tucson, Ariz., and was followed by time with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Oakland. Nagaraj eventually came to Tracy after becoming the franchise owner of Banfield Pet Hospital inside PetSmart.

After selling his franchise, Nagaraj opened his new clinic, which is equipped with a surgical room that includes a heart and blood pressure monitor, x-ray room and three waiting rooms. The clinic also has a full-service pharmacy for pet medications and vaccinations.

“People want top-of-the-line equipment and treatment for their pet,” Nagaraj said. “I want people to be happy with the service and come back again. I want them to have complete satisfaction.”

In addition to the typical dogs and cats, Nagaraj also provides services for pocket pets, such as rabbits, ferrets and Guinea pigs.

What is unique about the clinic, he said, is its openness to the families of their patients. Each room is surrounded by windows to allow pet owners to a view of their animal receiving treatment or undergoing a surgical procedure.

“I really care about the pets,” he said. “I want them to be happy, and I want their owner to understand what is happening to their pet.”

The clinic offers a Well Pet Plan for $30 to $45 per month that discounts services, including medical tests and teeth cleaning. Coupons are also available on their website.

“I don’t want to be a millionaire,” Nagaraj said. “I want to serve the community and its pets.”

In the future, Nagaraj said he has plans to hire a part-time veterinarian and a full-time licensed groomer to expand his services.

Affordable Pet Vet Clinic is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

In addition to serving clients with appointments, Affordable Pet Vet Clinic also accepts walk-ins.

QUALITY, CARING, PASSIONATE AND DRIVEN! Yes, sometimes a pet's care can be pricey - this is EVERYWHERE. Our pets are part of our FAMILIES! Maybe it's that I've been a loyal client of this doctor's, but I've - ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, received free medications, shampoos, etc....My pets means THE WORLD to me and I wouldn't allow them to see anyone else. THANK YOU DR. NAGARAJ!

I have gone to Dr. Nagaraj for many years and am very pleased with the services ive received. He like everyone else has a family to support as well. as far as Banfield's front desk explaining not to come to Dr. Nagaraj, of course...hes competition! Why would someone give unneccesary meds or services?? doesnt make sense why no one can be greatful when they come accross an honest Dr. like Kuppe Nagaraj. My pets have gotten the best care at an AFFORDABLE price since ive taken them to him. hes always very generous and helpful when I am low on money...hope people see the good in this man!!

The article written above was fantastic and I have to agree with what was in the information. Dr. Nagaraj is quite the opposite of what the previous commenters state. In fact, he has surpassed my expectations after just one single visit! My sweet little pet Max was in pain and limping/shedding chest hairs and I was in complete worry! I took him to Dr. Nagaraj and he was quick, courteous and resolved Max's pain. He even gave quite a generous discount and asked to see Max two weeks later (free of charge, of course) to see his condition! Reading the negative comments shocks me as I'm a big fan of this Dr. His heart is dedicated to both his clients as well as his patients. I strongly disbelieve a Dr with such a passionate history for his pets, would be described as the negative comments I've read. Perhaps the "competition" is trying to harm a Dr. caring reputation? With the new clinic being so close to home, my little family is blessed and safe to know we are in great hands!

When I took my dogs to been seen by this vet in PetSmart I was advised by the female receptionist/cashier NOT to have anything done by this vet because he was mean to the animals! I thanked her for saving my dogs from harm and left. I've been going to VCA Old River Hospital on 11th St in Tracy ever since. They're great.

I agree 100% with Investigator....only in for the $$$....i has a very similar experience when this guy was @ Petsmart, and we had to use his services because Jules was closed and we thought it was an emergency...well...it was not afterall, but we got stuck with almost $ 500 bill.

Jules is the way to go in Tracy.

I don't post very often, if not ever, on articles in the Press, but seeing this guy open a shop in town forces me to say something. I took my beloved dog to Banfield Pet Hospital where Kuppe formerly had his franchise. In my opinion, he is driven only by money and his extremely unfriendly and not caring for the animals. I bought into the Banfield pet care monthly program which is a waste of money. They will call and haunt you if you choose not to do a procedure he recommends. He will recommend x-rays for nearly anything and will also tell you they require more meds and treatments that are not included in the plan. It is too bad this guy is going to dupe more families into paying a monthly fee. Words of advice, do your homework on other vets. Jules and Dr Ross in town are highly ethical and although they may or may not charge more, you can know that you are giving your pet the best care.

I agree with investigator117. I took my dog to see the vet many times. They just want your money. Everytime we brought our dog in they insisited that we get labs done on her. Even though she just had them done. They just charged us for anything and everything. I would deff. recc. Jules. They are great there. And they don't go for your wallet!!!
