Found as a stray, Carmel, a miniature pinscher mix, is 1 or 1½ years old. Rescuers said she is energetic and runs around the house and yard, unhindered by a weak back leg that likely resulted from a puppyhood injury. Her favorite playmate is a long-haired cat twice her size. Carmel is spayed and has an identification microchip and is current on vaccines.

Animal Rescue of Tracy is a nonprofit, all-volunteer rescue group that has pet adoption fairs for dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays at the West Valley Mall.
