College freshman joins honor society

Morgan Jong, a Tracy High School graduate in her first year at University of California, San Diego, was named to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, an interdisciplinary honors organization based on GPA and class standing.

Members participate in service projects and have access to career and networking opportunities, scholarships and other resources.

Jong, daughter of Olivia Jong of Tracy, is studying media communications as a member of UC San Diego’s Sixth College and plays for the women’s soccer team.

Tracy Press photo editor wins award

A photo of a streaker interrupting a Tracy High School baseball game garnered a first-place award for Tracy Press Photo Editor Glenn Moore.

The picture won the top prize in the Sports Feature Photo category in judging for the San Francisco Bay Area Press Photographers Association’s 38th annual News Photography and Video Competition. The winners were announced at an awards dinner Sunday, March 18, in Oakland.

Many of Moore’s photos, including the winning image, can be viewed on his blog, http://glenn-snapshots.blogspot.com/.
