A 19-year-old man was arrested the same day police say he shot a second man in the neck at the intersection of Tracy Boulevard and Whispering Wind Drive on Friday, Feb. 24.

Daniel Moses Batchelder was charged with gang-related street terrorism and attempted willful murder following his arrest a couple hours after the shooting around 2:40 p.m. He remained in custody in San Joaquin County Jail with no bail on Monday.

A Tracy police detective was driving through the intersection when he discovered the victim.

The victim was found sitting in the drivers’ seat of his Dodge Neon in the middle of the northbound lanes of the intersection. A medical helicopter flew him to a local hospital. His condition was unknown on Monday, Feb. 27.

Batchelder was arrested a couple of hours later, however police weren’t releasing any further details about the arrest on Monday, Feb. 27.

He is scheduled for arraignment in Manteca Superior Court on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 1:25 p.m.

• Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Detective Ricardo Hernandez at 831-6631.

The police chief, The sky is falling, blah, blah, blah.

Where you at markj?

The only way this guy could have been caught sooner would be if he turned himself in before he did it.

I got the word when it happened. Most folks did. Still a small town.

And shelley, You don't have to move now. Besides, where ya' gonna move, Calavaras county?lol

Move so deep in the woods where nobody can hear your screams?

Chillax! TPD got it under control. Bad grammar, I know.

Thanks for the update Tracy Press. It's good to hear they have the suspect in custody. Now let's hope they throw the book at him.

Well I guess it was not any stretch of the imagination when most of us figured it was gang related.

I guess we can thank or mayor, he wants to build more homes in Ellis so we can attract more of these upstanding ghetto bay area transplants.

THIS is an article. Specific detective contact and number and who the suspect and/or the party charged. I feel much better assuming this is the correct individual. Good work TPD. Thank you.

The suspect in this shooting was arrested "a couple hours" after the shooting. Really?

Good police work!

I am going to go out on a limb here....it wouldn't surprise me at all if it turns out that the 'passenger' ended up being the shooter. Just a shot in the dark, but with such a fast apprehension that would make sense to me.
