Tracy driver Ryan Philpott finished the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West with a 16th-place finish Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Casino Arizona 125 at Phoenix International Raceway.

The race leaves Philpott in ninth place in the final points standings, with 1,660 points collected in 13 of the series’ 14 races.

He was second-place contender for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors, which went to 16-year-old Dylan Kwasniewski of Las Vegas, who was fifth overall in the points standings. Series champion was Greg Pursley of Newhall.

Also racing Saturday was Justin Philpott, Ryan’s cousin, also of Tracy. He had to leave the race on the 57th lap because of mechanical troubles. He ran five races in the 14-race series and finished 28th out of 97 drivers in the points standings.

The winner of Saturday’s race was Ryan Blaney of High Point, N.C. He averaged 77.227 mph over 125 laps on the 1-mile track.
