Putting For Birdie golf clinic

DETAILS: Box Croxton, owner of Putting For Birdie and a U.S. Golf Teachers Federation-certified instructor, has reopened the former Stripes driving range on MacArthur Drive, just north of town, where he offers 20 covered tees, grass tees and putting and chipping greens. On Saturday, he will run a clinic for beginning and intermediate golfers. Space is limited, so participants should call ahead to reserve a spot.

Halloween playdate

DETAILS: Athletic Perfection will host a Halloween playdate for moms and their young children. Children are encouraged to wear costumes.

Youth Hoops volunteers needed

WHEN: October through February

DETAILS: The city of Tracy Parks and Community Service Department seeks volunteers to coach the Youth Hoops program Saturday, Oct. 22, through Feb. 19. The recreational basketball league for third- through eighth-graders includes one practice per week for each team and Saturday games. No coaching experience is necessary, but volunteers must pass a background check.
