Several students from Kimball High School received kudos for their performance in Advanced Placement testing in the 2010-11 school year.
Kevin Sung was named an AP Scholar with Distinction, for achieving scores of three or higher on three or more AP exams.
Jochebed Romat and Samira Haikal were both named AP Scholar with Honors, for getting grades of three or higher on four exams and averaging a score of at least 3.25.
And Wendy Jackson was named an AP Scholar for averaging at least 3.5 while earning a three on five or more exams.
Local woman completes police training
Twenty-one cadets, including Tracy’s Amber Cocilova, graduated Aug. 25 from the Fresno City College Police Academy.
After more than 1,000 hours of training over two years, graduates are eligible to work as police officers, deputy sheriffs or district attorney investigators throughout the state.
Tracy boy’s artwork published in magazine
Tracy’s Joshua Lo, 7, drew a comical cowboy that was published in this month’s Spider magazine.
His crayon drawing appears on the Spider’s Corner page, as well as online at www.spidermagkids.com/corner.
College student accepted to honor society
Samantha Beringer will be inducted into the Beta Tau Upsilon Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society during a Sept. 29 ceremony.
Beringer, daughter of Michele and Donald Beringer of Tracy, is a student at Heald College in Modesto.
The honor society was founded in 1918 and has more than 1,275 chapters worldwide, inducting 125,000 students each year.
Locals earn university degrees
During summer commencement exercises, Kaplan University awarded bachelor’s degrees to Tracy residents Vineeta Devi and Dale Curry.
Devi studied accounting, and Curry majored in psychology.
