Tracy High graduate Stephen Perriera, Class of 2008, begins the 2011 college football season at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla., where he joins the Aggie football team as a junior defensive lineman.

Perriera participated in football, basketball and track and field while at Tracy High and was a lineman for the varsity football team for three years. In his senior year, he was named to the all-league first team for the San Joaquin Athletic Association as both an offensive and defensive lineman. That was the second year he received the team’s Varsity Lineman of the Year Award, becoming the only Bulldog player to earn the honor twice. He also was named to the Lions Club’s All-Star football team and was Most Valuable Player for the Bulldog track and field team during his senior year.

More recently, he played for the San Joaquin Delta College Mustang football team, where he played defensive line and received the 2010 Coaches Award. He graduated with an associate degree and a 3.11 GPA from Delta and will study sports training and physical therapy in Oklahoma.

The Aggies are an NCAA Division II team and part of the Independent Football Alliance. They compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ Central States Football League. They went 6-5 in the 2010 season.
