Five local students received $1,000 scholarships this summer from the Sutter Tracy Community Hospital Volunteers.

The Arnold Memorial Medical Scholarship is given each year to Tracy high school graduates or local adults entering health care fields.

This year’s recipients were Amer Abdulla, Melanie Koochof and Mehreen Meqsud, who graduated from Tracy High School; Daryan Early, a West High School grad; and Cody Nelson, who completed his studies at Millennium High School. Four of the five had volunteered at the hospital during high school.

Questions about future scholarships may be directed to Char Richardson, scholarship committee chairwoman, in the spring, via Sutter Tracy Community Hospital’s volunteer services.

The group welcomes new volunteers, both teenagers and adults.

Accolades runs in Our Town whenever we hear about someone who deserves kudos. If you have news for Accolades, send it to tpourtown@tracypress.com, or drop off a note at the Tracy Press office, 10th and A streets.
