The varsity gymnastics teams from Kimball and Tracy high school both qualified their entire teams for the Central Coast Section championships, to be held on Thursday, May 19, at Gymtowne in South San Francisco.

Kimball gymnast Shaylyn Garay finished as the league individual champion with a first-place all-around score of 38.550. She was first in the vault, 9.500, balance beam, 9.600, and floor exercises, 9.750, and second on the uneven bars, 9.700. Kimball’s Lauren Giles tied for fifth-place all-around with a score of 36.250, and Tracy’s Elizabeth Higa placed third on the balance beam with a score of 9.450.

Kimball qualified with a team score of 136.800 at the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League championship meet Friday at Twisters in Mountain View. It put the Jaguars in fourth place in the SCVAL behind league champion Lowell of San Francisco, Gunn of Palo Alto, and Half Moon Bay. Tracy was the sixth-place team in the league and qualified with a score of 132.200. Also heading to the section finals is Angela Gullette from West High. She qualified as an individual to compete on floor exercise based on her score of 8.600 in that event.
