I am writing in response to a letter from Dorothy Scialabba regarding the Tracy Animal Shelter ("Terrible shelter conditions,” Feb. 4 Tracy Press). I volunteer at the Tracy shelter several times a week.
I am personally offended that Ms. Scialabba states so-called “facts” that the animals die a horrible death when put down. I like to ask where she gets her facts, and why she makes statements that are wrong and very accusatory against the wonderful animal control officers who work under less-than-ideal conditions.
Yes, the shelter is old, but that does not minimize the care there. These animals are given the best care possible.
Before you write something and blast it all over kingdom come, get your facts straight.
I encourage citizens to visit the shelter and have a walkthrough before they pass judgment on perceived treatment and conditions.
All dogs have inside shelter, and they sleep on raised beds with blankets.
