Local man finishes basic training with honors

Airman 1st Class Christian Meyers of Tracy completed his basic military training with honors, second in his class of more than 700 graduates, on Jan. 21 at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.

Meyers, a 2009 West High School graduate, joined the California Air National Guard’s 129th Rescue Squadron in March.

He will continue his studies at Lackland before finishing his training in Washington state and New Mexico. Ultimately, he will be an aerial gunner on HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters.

The Tracy native is the son of Tim and Lisa Meyers and the brother of Cameron Meyers, all of Tracy.
