Tracy police responded to 163 calls for service Wednesday, Oct. 27. The following is a sample of those calls.
2:44 a.m.: A caller reported that a driver was doing doughnuts in a red Acura or Honda near the intersection of Longfellow and Russell streets. Police stopped the lowered car, towed the car and arrested the driver, who was taken to juvenile hall.
5:12 a.m.: A caller who was sitting in a wheelchair in front of his house on the 200 block of Cabana Court said two people were trying to break into a garage across the street. No one was there when police arrived six minutes later.
6:59 a.m.: A man who tried to steal a “basket full of groceries” from FoodMaxx, 3225 N. Tracy Blvd., refused to leave the store. The caller said that the man was “high” on drugs. Police arrested the suspect.
8:02 a.m.: A drug violation was reported at West High School, 1775 W. Lowell Ave.
9:13 a.m.: A caller at West High School, 1775 W. Lowell Ave., reported that a student reported as a runaway was attending school that day.
10:14 a.m.: After a Tracy High School student said his mother hit him the night before, the student’s older sibling said that it is really a problem with the kid’s mother “being controlling.” Tracy police tried to suggest courses of action, but the sibling said the best thing to do was for the student to “live with an older brother in Florida” because “no one is going to change their mother.”
2:09 p.m.: An alleged shoplifter was in custody after trying to take items from SaveMart, 875 S. Tracy Blvd.
4:45 p.m.: A woman on the 1800 block of Earl Way said that a neighbor was harassing small children who were playing out in front of her house and starting an argument.
6:14 p.m.: A caller from the Ninety Nine Cents or Less store, 1320 W. 11th St., reported an elderly man in front of the store was heavily intoxicated.
10:44 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after he was pulled over at the intersection of 20th and Court streets.
