Just wondering why there wasn’t anyone covering Rep. Jerry McNerney’s meeting at the Tracy Branch Library on Sunday? There were at least 50 people at the first meeting who talked about every issue that’s bothering them, mainly about the health care legislation that is being voted on in the Congress soon.
We spent about 45 minutes asking the congressman questions, which he wrote down on his pad. And when all of us spoke who wanted to, he got up and started talking about the Troubled Asset Relief Program and how the government did the right thing.
He only got through about six of the questions out of 50-plus people, and then they said we were out of time and we needed to let the next group in.
I fail to understand how the people in this town are willing to put up with this nonsense. He’s the puppy dog congressman who would do whatever House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Harry Reid tell him to do. He doesn’t listen to the conservatives who live in his district, and he puts the people in this city and county in jeopardy of losing their homes and their livelihood. He’d better pray that he does get re-elected, or he will have no home to come back to.
Next year has congressional elections, and I hope that Tracy starts to wake up and realize that we don’t have a congressman in our district who represents us. Please make an effort to write to your congressman and let him know how you feel, and when you vote, pick the candidate that you believe represents what you want our government to be doing.
I read your post and realized you lost scope. When someone realizes they lost a debate they often resort to whats called hyperbole. For example your effort to turn this into a debate about Pombo.
Additionally, at the same time you say you'll give someone else two years and then start to analyze his/her performance. Thats another distortion. Fact is our Congressman has had three years. Thats a whole extra year and has resulted in no jobs and no support for jobs in Tracy, CA?
Now, I'm sure you'll drug an excuse like Rush or GWB or Pombo again.
Personally, I wouldnt be surprised if our Conhressman may have been abandonded by those that once supported him.

You're absolutely wrong. The Tracy Press went public and supported Jerry. It still says so on his webblog and his webpage. You should probably proofread what you write before you write it. That kinda stuff sounds fonny on lib radio where you can disconnect PHONE CALLERS. But you're not making a believer out of me. Personally, I don't care if he won by a landslide. He won and ought to be doing his job. And when a newspaper says they endorse you then abandon you that might be a clue. Probably should take out your notebook and hot something down now. And I don't care if you're just here to tell me you're not interested in a debate right now. That's wonderful news because I don't think you've been very informative at all, but I bet you'll still have another reply? Because the fact is you did want to debate. And from where I'm standing there aren't any good policies or jobs coming to Tracy from our Congressman.
Let me point you to an example of our Congressman helping other cities and maybe you can try to explain that one away too.
His website. It says he is serving his second term. Now you might have a look at this article I have open in my computer. It says, "Jerry McNerney ... made a strong push for the San Joaquin County [vets hospital]. The article says it will create 900 jobs. Do you want me to post the link for you to check out?
You also want to tell us that Our Congressman didn't TALK about jobs in November.

Why would a Congressman avoid Tracy, when we read that other cities are getting his support, at over 900 jobs? Tracy gets a dial tone from our Congressman?
It has nothing to do with the holier than thou. Even if you win by one, you won; 5% is a very large margin.
I never made a comment that Tracy doesn't deserve jobs. Of course we do. But politicians don't create jobs, their policies help.
Only time will tell whether Obama's policies, also supported by Congressman Mcnerney, was able to help create any job. It's little too early for that debate.
If, two years after the Obama Presidency, job market still not improved, I may have to accept that Obama's policies were wrong. Until then, he has my benefit of doubt.
You're wrong about TP and McNerney. TP was a Pombo supporter. Only after Pombo's loss TP has returned to the center. Occasionally, even slightly left.
If you make a full time job to criticize a politician because of his political affiliation, yes, you don't deserve any response; just like the RNC propaganda network, aka FOX.
Finally, I don't know McNerney's media machine. If
many of his constituents are being left out from his activities, then they may not be doing a good job. But, I don't know, if that's the case.
Don't make it sound like Democrats are 'holier than thou' just because a Democrat in DC won an election by 5% margin.
Nowhere in any of the comments did anyone lie about your friend. I asked if you could show where one job was created and you explained to us that we don't deserve jobs in Tracy?
What about the energy jobs and the pictures of windmills on your friend's website? What about the vets and hospitals that go to Stockton?
Now your saying were not getting bypassed for jobs or justifying it by claiming we don't deserve it because we voted the out of lock-step with you and your cronies?

So why don't THEY write an article when your friend arrives in Tracy?
Maybe they didn't think it was so important? Or perhaps he didn't even tell them, for the same reasons you just described?

Read my comments they are about Mc Nerneys performance, or non performance, how ever you look at it. Most of all about our congressional district.
Just in case, you don't know, that Congressmen, or for that matter, the elected officials are not in business of creating jobs. Guys like you have never voted for someone like Jerry McNerney, and chances are, you never will. Therefore, who cares what you have to say. As far as voting him out, if it was up to you, your buddy Pombo would be still around, but too bad for you that average voters in the 11th district are smarter than you are. Therefore, they voted a mathematician over associate degree holder, Pombo (Congressman of your dream).

Most of my comment to your tag team partner, Chilli boy, applies to you as well. I will, however, add to you that you're no special for McNerney to pay special homage. He has made several visits to Tracy in the last several months. But you didn't know because you're too busy critcising him in TP.

replacing MCNerney with right wing fanatic in your mold. Of course, he's going to vote on party line. What did you expect? voting against Democrat? This is no south and he's no blue dog. Did you question Pombo, when he voted 99% along the party line and how about all republicans but one, who voted against the healthcare bill? You guys are sore losers. As for not having anyone who represents us in Tracy, it's that kind of atitude that stuck us with McNerney in the first place. You must not live in the jerrymandered district that I live in or you wouldn't be so complacent.
Lastly, MHarold, you've got to be a left-wing nut to agree with what Jerry McNerney's trying to do. He's got no mind of his own, he votes strictly down party lines, obeying the commands of his mentor Pelosi like a lap dog. Do you really think he's above critizism? I hope you realize that next Nov. McNerney's going to voted out of office by the majority of people who live in this district, conservative right-thinkers. As for a congressman representing Tracy, we have never had one. The renewed 11th district disables our congressman. The congressman's job goes far beyond Tracy,Stockton or even Morgan Hill.

I agree with you. I also feel that we don’t have a congressman in our district who represents us. I think your letter was right about our Congressperson.
As I look around I see jobs continuously going to Stockton. Do you recall our congressman standing in Tracy in May saying he was going to put a veterans hospital there in Stockton, CA?
That's a long way to reach to the end of his congressional district and possibly (I suggest) it may end up in another congressman's district?
Our Congressman can REEEACH all that way in effort to avoid representing and talking to conservatives in Tracy, CA? That's a looong way to go in effort to avoid helping Tracy, isn't it?
This is starting to convince me of which way November is going to go, unless someone can convince us otherwise. I'll keep an open mind about it, but it's already been one whole year.
Another year till next November (2010) rolls around like this and the choice is obvious one to me.
