A Tracy parent pleaded no contest in San Joaquin County Superior Court to phoning in one of several bomb threats to city high schools in March.

Martina Romero appeared July 1 in court for filing a false bomb report and was sentenced to three years probation.

Romero chose not to fight the charges after prosecutors reduced the felony charge to a misdemeanor.

Tracy police arrested Romero March 14, the day after a bomb threat cleared Tracy High School and the same day another threat was phoned in to Kimball High School.

Romero was also ordered by the judge to pay $154 in fees and restitution

When I read the bottom of the page and the Tracy Press writes that they encourage people to make comments about the article but to keep them respectful and constructive that this is not the place for personal attacks, or libelous statements. Well...then Edgewood Member had no business posting anything on this site because the post was disrespectful ,unconstructive, absolutely a personal attack and last but not least it is incredibly LIBELOUS. Please, please take a moment to verify something before you post it on an open forum. You clearly have strong feelings and I do suggest that you address them but not here. This is not a place to talk about a sick man and TB spreading children that continued to be sent to school without regard to any other children. (THERE IS NO TB BY THE WAY)

EDGEWOODMEMBER it must be nice to live in a glass house...

I feel that anyone who wants to discuss the content of any article should absolutely be allowed to do so- that is what a forum is for just stick to the issue!

Dude this lady called a bomb threat, not just anywhere, a freakin SCHOOL. Seriously, who does that? Who has time for that? I get up at 430 every morning to go to work and I can't understand who has time for this type of thing.

I mean yeah that is sad with this family story and what not, but none of that takes away from the fact that this woman committed bizarre a crime.

My mother is not that monster you are trying to promote, my mom is the most loving human being there is! Yes is trued one of my sisters had some issues with her life but is 4 of us not only one you forgot to mention that my other 2 sisters are honor roll students and my biggest heros besides my Dad and Mom you can't judge my mom through only one of my sisters cause of her mistakes and behavior if anything my mom has always tried to help her to turn her life around and she is doing it! You don't have a clue of the real story it is pretty obvious you are someone close to my family pretending to be a friend probably you are one of the of the ladies friends of my mom that have approached me at school asking for my dad's health whom by the way does't have no Tuberculosis my father was exposed to asbestos and his fighting for his life! I'm only 13 but someone has to put up a front for my family right now and since my father can't and my mother has enough to deal with I have to be the man of my house. by the way I don't hate you, my parents though me to forgive just like Jesus did to the people that crucified him. By the way he was innocent to!

...it's because of parents like this, and everyone who defends this type of conduct and behavior, that many kids are so mixed up today. This woman is a domestic terrorist who caused significant risk to the health, safety, and welfare for thousands of kids at THS, their parents, and law enforcement team members affected by the selfish, irresponsible, reckless, and beligerant behavior of this mother. Three years probation and a small fine for having done this is a travesty

Actually it is because of people like you, mrmnfallacy, "that many kids are so mixed up today". you dont even know the situation, or a even a little bit of it, and yet you feel that it is necessary to call this poor woman a "terrorist"? way to set a good example. And for your information, the kids who called in the Bomb threat at Tracy High school confessed awhile ago. so please get your facts straight before you post on a public website. and quite frankly, you dont even know anything about this woman to be saying that she is "selfish, irresponsible, and reckless." so please get a life rather than posting nasty comments just making it harder than it already is for them. Like i said before, it is people like you who make me lose the faith that i have in humanity.

WhiteDynamite97, its obvious that you're young, confused, and a close acquaintance of the young 31 year old domestic terrorist. Why do you continue to try to defend, excuse, or condone her behavior due to some extraordinary personal circumstances? How many times have we heard friends and families of criminals say that some convict was a good person and just beginning to turn their life around after the convict phoned in a bomb threat to a local high school? As you develop further experience in life, become a parent, raise kids, and increase your proficiency with being able to distinguish right from wrong, you'll also learn that the kind of behavior that this young 31 year old domestic terrorist demonstrated is NEVER appropriate, acceptable, or tolerable under any circumstances. Teach your kids the same

This lady lives in my community. One of her daughters has been a real trouble maker. She was involved in a police chase after a shooting at MC Hammer's place of business last year. The girl almost died of heart complications that day. Her mom (this lady) makes the call to make the bomb threat and when the police show up to her door she tries to force her daughter to take the blame. The daughter was a suspect at first because the mom denied knowing anything about the call but soon after the truth came out.

Currently her husband is in the hospital with Tuberculosis. No one knows who else in that crazy house is infected. Still she send her son and other daughter to school without any regard to the health and safety of the other children.

She should be held responsible to highest extend of the law for what she did. It cost the school district funds that they may have used elsewhere. It also cost the Tracy PD money.

Now if their is a Tuberculosis outbreak, it could cost children's lives too.

People should be held responsible for their actions and lack there of.

I believe that if you plead no contest then you can not get sued in civil court. If you plead not guilty, then you can be sued civilly even if you are found innocent(see OJ case). So given the choices....a lot more to lose by pleading not guilty.

Should we get the pitch forks and torches? When do we cast these monsters out of our community? You are so nice to spread her business everywhere. Please tell me more about what you know about this horrible family who is now spreading TB through out Tracy?

EdgewoodMember- get a life.

Who do you think you are going on a public website spreading this poor woman's business around bashing her and her family with hateful remarks? If that makes you feel better about yourself, then i feel bad for you. You don't even know the whole store or even a little so please just stay out of it. you have absolutely no idea what this family is going through so why make things worse? Why should i be concerned of this nice family spreading TB when you are spreading stupidity around this entire world. so please just get a life rather than making this family's life hell. It is people like you who make me question the faith that i have in humanity

After re-reading your comment, EdgewoodMember,i realized that You are calling this family "crazy" and you are saying that the two children that are still going to school are a danger and are hazardous to the other children at the schools. What is the point in posting hateful stuff like this and just putting the family down and making it harder for them. it is sad how you can make certain accusations saying that the mother tried to blame and throw her daughter under the bus without knowing the whole story and just making up gossip. Like i said before, you have no idea what the actual situation is so please just stay out of it. i'm done wasting my time with you.

TUSD should file a civil lawsuit against this person. Think about the hundred of thousands of taxpayers monies lost on this incident. Who does this stuff? What could possibly motivate a parent to do this? Just crazy and stupid.

Someone please tell me this is a joke, if not, whoever is responsible for this decision should be banned from practicing law, judge, prosecutors, et al.

For now, let's put aside the fact this offense could be tried as a terrorist threat.

Let's also for a moment put aside the fact the perp was a parent and not some idiotic 16 year old punk.

$154 in fees & restitution, are you freaking kidding?

"the day after a bomb threat cleared Tracy High School"

I'm pretty sure it cost a heck of a lot more than $154 to clear a high school.

Now, let's go back to the fact a bomb threat whether carried out or not can be tried as a terrorist threat or at the least a felony. This idiot who has probably raised miscreant offspring gets off with probation? Again, are you freaking kidding?

Going beyond the citizens of Tracy, the entire country should be outraged by this heinous decision. Talk about a black mark on our city. Hell, the way this country is going she'll probably be on every talk show on TV within a week - at the least the idiot Dr Phil's show, and making more off appearances and a book deal than those of us who bust our backsides working and obeying the law. Sad.

Based on the limited information in this article, it's difficult to say if you're correct or not. Would the charges be difficult to prove, how credible was the threat, etc. And it's no longer called terrorist threats. It was changed to "criminal threats" about 10 years ago.
