William "Bill" Lawson, 86, a Kentucky native who had worked in the automotive industry for many years, died July 22 at his home in Tracy. Services will be private.

Mr. Lawson, born Oct. 19, 1926, was one of five children of John and Molly Lawson. He worked in the auto industry first in Detroit and then throughout the greater Bay Area, after moving to California with his wife in the late 1950s. He was a bus driver, service station owner, car salesman and dealership manager.

He lived in Tracy in the 1980s before retiring to Turlock. Following his wife’s death several years ago, Mr. Lawson moved into his son’s home in Tracy, and he could be seen on walks around the city until his death.

Survivors include five children, Cathy Lawson of Arizona, Jackie Rinehart of Florida, David Lawson of El Dorado Hills and Lori Gouveia and John Lawson, both of Tracy; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

His wife of 60 years, Barbara Lawson, preceded him in death.
