Tracy Unified School District announced Tuesday, May 7, that Myers replaces Matt Loggins, who was selected as Kimball High’s varsity football coach in March after three years leading the West program.
Myers confirmed Wednesday, May 8, that the district had offered him the job and he accepted, but he would not comment further, pending formal approval by the TUSD Board of Trustees.
The school board will vote on his appointment at its regular meeting Tuesday, May 14.
The board will also vote on the appointment of English teacher and varsity basketball coach Derek Sprecksel as West’s athletic director.
Myers holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from California State University, Sacramento, and earned a master’s degree in education from National University.
A teacher at West High since 2005, he was West’s freshman football coach from 2006 to 2008 and in 2012.
Myers was previously an assistant freshman football coach at West from 1995 to 1996 and at Tracy High from 1996 to 1997.
