Memorial services will be Wednesday, July 17, for Walter R. Gorr, 95, a retired Tracy High School teacher who was Tracy’s last Pearl Harbor survivor.

Born in Shell Lake, Wis., on July 4, 1918, he died Monday, July 8, at Astoria Gardens care facility following a long illness.

Mr. Gorr was a member of Mount Oso Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Tracy American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts and several other organizations. He attended First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Darrell Gorr, and his wife, Sherry, of San Jose; a daughter, Linda Hahn, and her husband, Mark, of Ladera Ranch; and two grandchildren.

Preceding him death were his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Gorr, who died in 2008, three brothers and five sisters.

The Wednesday memorial service begins at 10 a.m. at Mount Oso Masonic Lodge, 1601 N. Tracy Blvd.

Contributions in Mr. Gorr’s name can be made to the Stockton Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center, 33 W. Alpine Ave., Stockton, CA 95204; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
