WCS Katz wins Suntan Classic

West Coast Soccer Club’s under-16 girls Katz, including seven Tracy players, placed first at the Suntan Classic Soccer Tournament in Sacramento on Aug. 4 and 5.

The Katz went 3-0-1 on the weekend in the U-17 bracket, staring with a 5-0 win on Saturday, Aug. 4, over Brentwood Impact 5-0.

Abby Dyer of Tracy led the Katz offense with two goals and one assist. Adaurie Dayak, of Tracy, also scored a goal for Katz.

Sam Reich of Tracy logged an assist while goalie Taylor Boren, also of Tracy, got the shutout.

Katz then beat Elk Grove 2-0, and tied the third game, 1-1, against Sacramento United. Katz moved on to the championship game against Elk Grove and dominated with 15 shots on goal.

Katz scored late in the second half off a hard shot from Stephanie Pawek of Tracy and won it 1-0.
