Tritons warm up for Tracy Invitational

The Tracy Tritons swim club opened its 2012 Mid-Valley Swim League season Saturday, May 19 against the Manteca Dolphins at East Union High in Manteca. The Tritons outscored the Dolphins 1,216-965.

The meet was an early start of the year for the Tritons, who usually open with their home meet, the Tracy Invitational. That event will take over West High this weekend, as eight Mid-Valley teams and more than 800 swimmers and their families gather at Pinkie Phillips Aquatics Center for two days of competition. The meet begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 26.

Top swimmers for the Tritons at the Manteca meet included Lela Ziller, who won all three of her events in the 6-and-under girls competition, including the 50-yard freestyle (50.47), the 25 butterfly (24.03) and the 25 breaststroke (31.40). Alicia Webb won two 6U girls events, the 25 backstroke (36.50) and the 25 freestyle (24.71).

Liahla Fernandez won two events in the 7-8 girls division, the 50 freestyle (37.87) and 25 backstroke (21.69), and Olivia Quin won the 7-8 girls 25 butterfly (20.33).

Malia Fernandez won all of her races in the 9-10 girls division: 100 freestyle (1:08.24), 50 backstroke (35.44) and 50 freestyle (30.25). Also in the 9-10 girls, Megan Gee won the 100 individual medley (1:27.14) and the 50 breaststroke (43.99).

Madesyn Ronquillio won all of her races in the 11-12 girls division, including the 100 IM (1:13.80) the 50 backstroke (33.69) and the 50 freestyle (28.82). Sophia Fairfield won the 11-12 girls 50 butterfly (36.42) and Lindsay Price won the 50 breaststroke (39.08).

In the 13-14 girls division, Julia Vares won the 50 backstroke (34.26) and Bridgette Houser won the 50 breaststroke (38.21).

Three-event winner Sandra Walther won the 15-16 girls 100 IM (1:16.09), 50 butterfly (32.56) and 50 freestyle (27.35). Kristen Steed won the 15-16 girls 100 freestyle (1:05.88).

Heather Porter won all three of her events in the 17-18 girls division, the 100 IM (1:16.57), 50 backstroke (36.04) and 50 freestyle (29.33).

Among the Triton boys, Daniel Zeller won the 6U 50 freestyle (1:14.90).

Adam Dragoo won both the 7-8 boys 50 freestyle (44.92) and 25 freestyle (19.78), and Cruz Fairfield won the 7-8 boys 25 butterfly (24.46).

Thomas Gilmore won the 9-10 boys 50 butterfly (54.14).

Mark Sheneman won all three of his events in the 11-12 division, including the 100 freestyle (1:08.37), 50 backstroke (35.22) and 50 freestyle (30.47). Jackson Lieberg won both the 100 IM (1:19.59) and the 50 butterfly (35.15).

Alec Fairfield won both the 13-14 boys 50 backstroke (31.91) and the 50 freestyle (27.57).

Karel Kouda won all three of his events in the 15-16 boys division: 100 IM (1:06.90), 100 butterfly (1:08.92) and 50 freestyle (25.16).

Austin Meyer won the 15-16 boys 100 freestyle (57.23) and 100 breaststroke (1:19.69).
