Many fear our mall will become a sort of ghost town now that popular stores, such as Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Aeropostale, are exiting.
“We have other deals in the works,” said Mike Donaghy, general manager of West Valley Mall. “We actually have a whole team of people working on this. We want to keep customers and tax dollars in the city. In addition to retail stores, we also have events taking place throughout the year.”
The Barnes & Noble site, now closed, will be occupied by Sports Authority. Construction is scheduled to begin next month. In addition, the mall management has confirmed that Nestle Toll House Café will be coming sometime between March and August.
Besides retail shopping and interior events, a farmers market can be found each Sunday in the parking lot nearest to Hometown Buffet from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
West Valley Mall opened in 1995 and is owned by Rouse Properties.
