The sixth season-opening show will feature Contemporary Fiber Works by the California Fiber Artists, which runs through Oct. 27 at the Grand, will feature works by the group’s 30 independent fiber-based artists, who produce 2-D and 3-D projects.
Their works are made from fiber with dye, paint wire and stitching, also include felt, basketry, paper quilting, collages and wearable art.
In a statement, the theater’s cultural arts manager, William Wilson, noted the quality of the group, which has put on national exhibitions since 2005.
“They bring attention to contemporary fiber arts through effective collaboration and high-quality exhibits,” his statement read. “Our patrons will be surprised by the diversity of the materials and techniques used by these artists.”
The gallery will host a gallery talk and reception for the show Sept. 29 from noon to 2 p.m.
The Grand gallery will be open on the anniversary weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9.
