After an 11-1 league record earned the team a first-round bye, 17 points from Kaodi Dike and 11 points from Oscar Moreno helped the Saints record a 40-30 win over Presentation (
Michael Njamfa, Andy Lorusso and Jacob Odell all added four points, and Ian Arucan and Joshua Cuestas both added two.
In the title game, the Saints faced St. Luke’s and recovered from a 9-7 halftime deficit to eke out an 18-17 win — thanks to a total team effort.
“When the season started out, I had 11 basketball players, and when the season ended I had one basketball team with 11 players, playing as one team,” coach Cornealious Moore said. “That is what helped us to have a winning season and ultimately winning the championship game.”
J.R. Seitz, Brian Freitas, Casey Bento and Andrew Jurado made up the rest of the roster.
Triumph live up to name
The Tracy Triumph 10-and-under girls Tracy Unified Competitive Soccer Club Bill Frazier miniseason team concluded the monthlong miniseason with a pair of wins over Stockton and Modesto in Manteca the weekend of Feb. 16 and 17, outscoring their opponents by a combined tally of 8-0.
Reina Perales, Amanda Beck, Garbiele Enzmann, Jill Finney, Taylor Nusser and Eliana Mendoza all recorded goals in a 6-0 walloping of Stockton. Finney’s tally came on a 20-yard blast, and Enzmann’s came off a nifty corner kick from Taylor Hopkins. Enzmann also assisted on Perales’s opener, as the defense limited
