Tracy Sports Hall of Fame committee members Wayne Schneider and Bill Swenson dropped by the Tuesday, Nov. 19, Tracy City Council meeting to present the city with a plaque commemorating the honorees in the Hall of Fame.

Both men, former coaches at Tracy High — Schneider for football and Swenson for basketball — said the Hall of Fame is collecting nominations for names to add to the plaque. The group had been active from 1982 to 1990 and was reactivated in February.

The plaque presented at City Hall on Tuesday includes 49 names, including athletes, teams, families and other individuals who contributed to sports in Tracy, and has room for many more. It will be mounted on the wall just to the left of the council chambers entrance at Tracy City Hall, 333 Civic Center Drive.

The committee will take nominations until Dec. 15 and will make its selections for new inductees on Jan. 27. A banquet to honor new inductees is planned for April 26 at the Elks Lodge on 11th Street.
