Seven seek school district seat

Seven people have applied to fill the seat on the Tracy Unified School District school board vacated Dec. 11 by Bill Swenson.

The applicants will be interviewed during a special board meeting Thursday, Jan. 3.

Marvin Barth, Mitra Behnam, Wes-Thomas Huffman, Kelly Lewis, Ann Mooney, Jass Sangha and Gurgit Srai are the seven seeking the position, according to TUSD spokeswoman Jessica Cardoza.

Cardoza said each candidate will meet individually with the board and will be asked two questions. Based upon their responses, Cardoza said the board will make its appointment decision that night.

The appointed person will serve out the remaining two years of Swenson’s four-year term.

The special meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the District Education Center Board Room at 1875 W. Lowell Ave. The meeting will be open to the public.

Apparantly Jass's millions didn't open this door for her either. Word has it she has given up her family for the sake of political power. The things we do for a name.

Jass is a nobody with money trying to be a somebody, something money can't buy. She is mediocre at best and even if she gets appointed, it won't satisfy her lust for power and identity. She is a morally corrupt person who should not represent TUSD.

What's with Jazz Sangha? She ran for city counsel and lost, ran for Delta College trustee and lost. What's next - Town dog catcher?

It would be such a mistake to appoint another certificated person to this Board. I value what teachers can bring to the Board, but BALANCED representation of business minded people is just as important.

In order to be a well run District, the business branch cannot be ignored.

Please, please keep that in mind when filling this position.
