Below are just a couple of the scholarships available to local students this spring:

• The Tracy Art League is accepting applications for a total of $1,000 in scholarships for graduating seniors who will pursue a major in art. The Tracy Woman’s Club will award a $500 scholarship based on the same interview process. Students must submit a portfolio of at least 10 percent recent works (completed within the past three years) that exemplify versatility and use of various media. Applications, available at www.tracyartleague.org, must be postmarked by Saturday, April 16. Mandatory interviews will be scheduled for April 30. • Tracy Community Charitable Foundation, founded in 2003 by GWF Energy LLC, gives four $2,500 scholarships to Tracy Unified School District graduates each year. For information: www.gwfpower.com/community.asp

• Tracy African American Association welcomes applications for its Wayne Nelson Academic Scholarship from college-bound black students who will graduate this spring from Tracy high schools. The group has awarded more than $60,000 to date. Applications, which can be downloaded from the group’s website, must be submitted by mail no later than April 23. • The San Joaquin County College Scholarship Program hopes to help local students obtain scholarships and mentor them in the admissions process. For information: www.sjcdiscovery.com.
