Residents can nominate best in community

Applications are available for the 2013 Tracy Chamber of Commerce Recognition Awards, which honor local businesses and entrepreneurs contributing to the community.

Sophia Valenzuela, president of the chamber of commerce, said Tuesday, Oct. 22, that nomination applications are available on the chamber’s website at Completed forms are submitted electronically from the website and are due Nov. 8.

Applications are available for the following seven categories: chamber ambassador of the year, business of the year, entrepreneur of the year, professional of the year, organization of the year, male citizen of the year and female citizen of the year.

“The event is traditional in the community.” Valenzuela said. “For over 50 years, the chamber has recognized people who go above and beyond to contribute to the community.”

This year’s awards ceremony will take place at the Tracy Community Center, 950 East St., and will consist of a black-tie dinner and dance.

All nominations are chosen by community members except chamber ambassador of the year, which is voted upon by the chamber board of directors.
