Last week’s Remember When mystery photo showed one of the cottages that are located on the entry road at Byron Hot Springs.
During the 1920s and ’30s, the cottages were used by those “taking the cure” at the resort 14 miles northwest of Tracy.
During World War II, the cottages were used for officer quarters and medical offices for the prisoner-of-war interrogation center. After the war, a Greek Orthodox Church retreat center at the onetime resort used the cottages.
David Edwards identified the cottages he first saw on a visit there in 1983. Scott Hotlets also had it right, noting that three hotels were built at the hot springs over the years.
