Last week’s “mystery photo,” at left, shows Sen. Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota speaking from the back of a train in the Tracy Southern Pacific yard in October 1964.
Humphrey was the Democratic Party candidate for vice president in 1964. He and President Lyndon Johnson won the election over Barry Goldwater. In 1968, Humphrey, then vice president, ran for president but lost to Richard Nixon.
Recognizing Humphrey in the photo, taken by Sam Matthews, were Julie Curran, Richard Giambastini and Zach Hoffert.
