09-12-taekwondo204wReed TKD students among top fighters at Black Belt FinalsNinja Reed, 6, wins division in sparringPress staff reportSeven students from James Reed’s Tae Kwon Do competed at the California Black Belt Finals on Friday, Aug. 31 and Saturday, Sept. 1, at the DoubleTree hotel in Modesto. Students qualified for the event during competitions held during the past year.Ninja Reed, 6, won a championship belt by capturing five matches in a row. Anthony Napoles, 6, and Giovanni Napoles, 6, were third and fourth place, respectively, in the event. All three boys were point leaders in their division during the year, regularly winning first and second place medals.Tosh Black, 9, placed second in sparring in his division after collecting first-place medals in all of his matches during the year.Students train under James Reed, who has been teaching Tae Kwon Do in Tracy for the past nine years and recently was voted Sportsman of the Year by the Tracy Chamber of Commerce.Contact Bob Brownne at 830-4227 or brownne@tracypress.com.
