Tracy police are investigating the possibility of a fetus or recently born baby being left in a gas station trash bin.
Officers responded on Tuesday, July 23, to an undisclosed gas station on the 3700 block of North Tracy Boulevard, according to Cpl. Trevin Freitas of the Tracy Police Department.
The alleged discovery was made on Monday, July 22, but wasn’t reported until nearly 40 hours later on Tuesday, Freitas said.
Investigators released the information on Thursday, July 25.
"We were unable to find anything, so we are still trying to verify what was seen," Freitas said.
The Special Investigations Unit is handling the case.
No other details were released because it’s an active investigation, Freitas said.
