Police Log: Tow truck wars

A caller reported he was hit by a tow truck at 2:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, while trying to repossess a heavy-haul tow truck from Borges Towing at 850 N. MacArthur Drive. Police reported getting different versions of what happened from those involved, but both drivers admitted to arguing over the repossession of a tow truck.

Tracy police received 417 calls for service Friday, July 6, to Sunday, July 8. The following is a sample of those calls.

Sunday

12:28 a.m.: Police arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving on the 500 block of East Grant Line Road. The arrest occurred after a caller reported a car driving on the railroad tracks. When police arrived, the car was reportedly stuck trying to get off railroad property.

1:11 a.m.: A caller said a golden Labrador was missing from his yard after he discovered a portion of his back fence was broken on the 600 block of Tulare Court. He said the dog was named Buster.

6:32 a.m.: A resident asked for extra patrols on the 200 block of Camelot Drive after his car was egged overnight.

8:27 a.m.: A 1995 Honda Accord was reported stolen on the 1200 block of Valencia Drive. The owner said the front left headlight was broken and being held on by tape.

8:46 a.m.: Police issued a warning to a dog owner after a caller reported the dog attacked her dog when they passed on the 1100 block of West Lowell Avenue.

8:47 a.m.: A transient man was loitering inside the Shamrock, 117 W. 11th St. The caller said the man sleeps near a trash bin and routinely comes inside and just sits inside the business. Police issued the man a trespassing warning.

9:25 a.m.: A caller said a speeding car hit his dog and killed it on the 1300 block of Eastlake Circle. He said the car was going too fast and never even stopped after. He was concerned about speeding cars in the area.

9:35 a.m.: A house was burglarized on the 1700 block of Riverview Avenue. The owner said the glass was broken and the house ransacked. Police are investigating.

11:58 a.m.: Animal control warned a dog owner after he left his husky inside his car outside Home Depot, 2461 Naglee Road.

1:11 p.m.: A 1992 Honda Civic was reported stolen on the 600 block of Sunnyside Lane.

8:01 p.m.: Police counseled two children after a woman reported a 10-year-old boy was pushing her 6-year-old son onto the ground at Lincoln Park, 170 E. Eaton Ave. The victim’s mother said she confronted the older boy’s parents, and they laughed at her before she called the police.

8:47 p.m.: A caller reported six homeless people were setting up camp in Lincoln Park, 170 E. Eaton Ave. She said they had been there all day and were setting up sleeping bags. Police talked to the group.

10:50 p.m.: Police issued a warning to people lighting fireworks at an apartment complex on the 200 block of West Eaton Avenue.

11:45 p.m.: A 2000 Honda Civic was missing from outside Nations, 3574 N. Tracy Blvd. The owner said the car was gone when she left work.

Saturday

12:06 a.m.: Police took a report from a man at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd., who said he cut his hand while trying to take a knife away from an assailant at a downtown bar. Security at the bar reportedly had the attacker in custody.

2:17 a.m.: Police found a man lying in bushes on the 500 block of Havenwood Court after a woman reported a possible prowler. It was determined the man had left a nearby party.

4:19 a.m.: The alleged theft of a large flat-screen TV from Walmart, 3010 W. Grant Line Road, led to a pursuit. Manteca police helped arrest the subject, who drove from Tracy to Union Road in Manteca on the highway. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on two felony charges and was scheduled for a Tuesday court hearing.

10:02 a.m.: A street sign was taken out by a wayward driver who allegedly abandoned her car on the first block of West Grant Line Road. Public works was notified about the sign, the car was towed, and police are investigating.

3:32 p.m.: Medications were reported stolen from a home on the 800 block of Darby Drive, and police arrested a woman on suspicion of petty theft.

5:52 p.m.: A hit-and-run was reported on the corner of 11th Street and Tracy Boulevard. The suspects, teenagers in a green Ford Excursion, ran after hitting the caller’s Honda Civic, the caller alleged. An Excursion was towed, and police are investigating.

7:12 p.m.: Police were called to the Hacienda Motel, 639 W. 11th St., for a report of a naked man attacking a woman. The woman died from the alleged attack, and the man was arrested and booked into county jail on suspicion of homicide. 11:40 p.m.: More than 100 young people were reportedly gathered in a parking lot off Ninth Street and Central Avenue driving slowly with doors open and standing on cars. The caller also said one of the teenagers there might have had a handgun. Police counted about 150 subjects at the scene, though everyone talked to by the cops reported no arguments or fighting. A police dog helped clear the area.

Friday

2:01 a.m.: A woman told police a man she once had a relationship was banging on her bedroom window on the 700 block of Roosevelt Avenue. The man admitted to police he knocked on her window. She said he had been stalking her, but she didn’t want to press charges. She said she would seek a restraining order against him.

2:12 a.m.: A caller said teen’s toilet papered his neighbor’s house on the 100 block of East Mount Diablo Avenue.

3:28 a.m.: Police arrested a 31-year-old man for violation of a court order on the 400 block of Wagtail Drive. The arrest occurred after a caller reported a man followed her home from a supermarket.

8:38 a.m.: Police arrested a 27-year-old man for outstanding warrants from Newark on the 4600 block of Whirlaway Lane. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.

3:42 p.m.: A car was burglarized at In-Shape Fitness, 2311 N. Tracy Blvd., and took a pair of sunglasses, wallet and other items.

5:50 p.m.: A woman reported that someone broke into her house on the 1400 block of Lincoln Boulevard. She said a television, X-box and cell phone were missing. Police are investigating.

8:16 p.m.: Police arrested a 20-year-old man for suspicion of vandalism at Raley's, 2550 S. Tracy Blvd. A caller reported that windows broke, but it wasn’t clear whether it was at the supermarket or a vehicle.

8:31 p.m.: Police arrested two men, ages 35 and 32, following a pedestrian stop on the 500 block of West Lowell Avenue. One man was cited and released on a warrant, and the other man was charged with drug possession.

9:46 p.m.: Police arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of being drunk in public near Second and D streets. The arrest occurred after a caller reported a man staggering and laying on the ground.

Seriously? This is the absolute reason we are in the shape we are. Worthless parents who adversely shape their children into criminals. I pose the question.. What do you call a guy who drunkenly impregnates a girl in the heat of the moment?? Father.. What do you call a girl who lets herself get impregnated in a desperate attempt to gain acceptance?? Mother. Sad sad sad world.
