Officers were chasing a vehicle east on Linne Road when it crashed in front of Linne Estates near the intersection with MacArthur Drive. Two young men were seen running from the vehicle through the neighborhood.
Mario Contreras, 18, was found allegedly hiding in the bushes of a residence. Contreras was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. He was taken to San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp, where he was also held on an outstanding warrant from Stanislaus County for a charge in the juvenile system.
Officers ended the search for the second person at about 5:10 a.m.
Contreras is scheduled to appear for a hearing in the Manteca branch of San Joaquin County Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, according to the jail website.
Tracy police received 119 calls for service Monday. The following is a sample of those calls.
3:52 a.m.: Two teenagers were allegedly throwing water bottles at passing vehicles in the area of Sycamore Parkway and Dove Drive. Officers were unable to find the teens, who were reportedly wearing hats, hooded sweatshirts and sweatpants.
4:01 a.m.: A father reported that his teenaged son had run away from home and stolen the father’s vehicle from the 4200 block of Glenhaven Drive. The teen’s parents reportedly signed paperwork allowing for their son to be fully prosecuted when found. At 8:05 a.m., the son reportedly returned home and was arrested.
1:35 p.m.: Police arrested a 24-year-old woman in the area of Rodeo Way and Saddleback Court during a vehicle stop for outstanding warrants for vehicle theft-related charges. She was taken to San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
1:48 p.m.: A man who was arrested for battery Saturday, Nov. 10, returned to a residence on the 900 block of West Ninth Street to retrieve his personal belongings. While he was there, he allegedly unhooked the starter on his girlfriend’s car. He also allegedly took the license plate off her vehicle.
2:56 p.m.: Police arrested a 48-year-old man in the area of Hickory Avenue and Tennis Lane for driving under the influence. The man was allegedly hitting curbs with his vehicle. Officers had his black Honda Civic towed from the scene.
7:01 p.m.: Transients were reported to be sleeping in front of Jiu-Jitsu Academy, 344 W. Grant Line Road. The same people have allegedly slept there on several occasions, and there was concern that they might bother the young children who attend the academy. Officers issued a warning to the transients.
10:01 p.m.: Two residents on the 1700 block of Hoops Court individually reported that a man was rummaging through recycling cans belonging to homes on the block. One resident said he found the man in his driveway and the man went to the next house when he told to move along by the homeowner. The man reportedly wore a green headband, drove a brown minivan and had a bushy beard. Officers were unable to locate the man when they arrived.
