A construction crew using a backhoe near the Boys & Girls Club on Lowell Avenue severed a 2-inch high-pressure gas line at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19. The club at 753 W. Lowell Ave. was evacuated of children and employees, who were escorted to the Save Mart parking lot off Vallerand Road.

Pacific Gas and Electric crews were called to the scene to repair the leak.

Police also closed Lowell Avenue between Tracy and Lincoln boulevards for about two hours, according to Tracy Fire Department Division Chief Andy Kellogg.

According to the fire department, the road was reopened by 6:30 p.m., and no one was injured.

Tracy police received 153 calls for service Wednesday, Sept. 19. The following is a sample of those calls.

8:55 a.m.: A caller reported graffiti near a drainage ditch at John Erb Park, 2264 Barcelona Drive.

10:32 a.m.: A woman reported her 2003 Chevy pickup was stolen from the 2800 block of St. Martins Way.

10:48 a.m.: Police arrested a 28-year-old woman for an outstanding warrant for using false identification following a pedestrian stop near Peacock Court and Sequoia Boulevard.

11:10 a.m.: A caller reported a man jumping into traffic and yelling on the 400 block of East 11th Street. Police were unable to find him.

12:50 p.m.: Police were called to the am/pm at 3425 N. Tracy Blvd. for a disturbance after a customer allegedly tried to use a counterfeit $10 bill.

2:06 p.m.: A dealership clerk at Tracy Honda, 3450 Auto Plaza Way, reported a man took a car without paying his bill for service.

3:54 p.m.: A caller said someone stole a leaf blower out of an open trailer on the 100 block of West Valpico Road.

4:39 p.m.: A store clerk called to report someone stole his laptop at Downtown Gift Center, 1037 N. Central Ave. He said two men distracted him while a third man likely took the computer. He said the man had been carrying a pizza box and might have put the computer in it. Police are investigating.

5:49 p.m.: Police cited two teens for having intercourse on playground equipment at Ceciliani Park, 1600 Cypress Drive.

10:23 p.m.: Police arrested a 39-year-old man for domestic violence in central Tracy. The arrest occurred after a woman called police and through a Spanish interpreter she said here husband injured her.
