Police counseled a 12-year-old boy after he was seen pointing a laser pointer at passing cars from the roof of a house on the 500 block of Gianelli Street at 9:42 p.m. Thursday, July 12. He was released to his mother, and she took the pointer away from him. She promised police it wouldn’t happen again.

Tracy police received 188 calls for service Thursday, July 12. The following is a sample of those calls.

3:38 a.m.: Police arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of being drunk in public at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 552 W. Eaton Ave.

7:30 a.m.: Police arrested a 28-year-old man for violation of a court order following a car stop near Parker and Eaton avenues. A woman had told police she was being followed by a man she has a restraining order against.

11:50 a.m.: Police responded to a call for a man with a knife in the West Valley Mall parking lot at 2800 Naglee Road, while another man in the same area was reportedly performing karate moves. The karate man was seen going into Target, while police searched the mall for the man seen tossing a knife around. Police were told he was last seen in the food court area, but he was not located.

1:16 p.m.: An online report was made for the theft of a catalytic converter on the 400 block of Falcon Court.

1:34 p.m.: Police arrested a 39-year-old man for an outstanding warrant on the 3800 block of North Tracy Boulevard. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.

2:11 p.m.: A caller reported two children, ages 9 and 10, were left unattended at the West High School pool, 1775 W. Lowell Ave. The lifeguard watched them until their parents arrived.

2:24 p.m.: A caller reported seeing a man wearing a police jacket with a rifle hanging around his neck near Winco, 2850 Pavilion Parkway. Police checked and found Homeland Security officials were in the area for an arrest at a nearby business.

3:19 p.m.: A television and laptop were reported missing from a house after a burglary on the 1100 block of Chaplin Way. Police are investigating.

4:55 p.m.: Police issued trespassing warnings to two men who refused to leave Mi Ranchito, 215 N. Central Ave.

5:09 p.m.: Police arrested an 18-year-old man for an outstanding warrant near Eaton and Parker avenues. He was booked into county jail.

7:57 p.m.: A caller reported someone hit his car on the driver’s side door and left rubber marks on the 1000 block of Alden Glen Drive.
