Pianists perform in July

A group of 14 Tracy students performed at the 2013 Music Teachers Association annual convention in July at the Santa Clara Hyatt Regency.

The students were among the top 3 percent of recipients of the Music Teachers’ Association of California Certificate of Merit for piano. They were selected for their classical repertoire, technique, sight reading and theory examination scores.

The performers were Millennium High School senior Jude Ocampo; Tracy High School sophomore Jharen Rivera; homeschooled ninth-grader Thalia Cruzat; St. Bernard’s Catholic School eighth-grader Anna Fisher and sixth-grader Momoko Leadon; Poet Christian School eighth-grader Madison Ibarra; Williams Middle School eighth-grader Edward Xie; West Valley Christian Academy seventh-grader Rocky Rosete; Discovery Charter School seventh-grader Hudson Tsang and sixth-graders Clarisse Ocampo, Tyler Shih and Quynh Trosien; Tracy Learning Center fourth-grader Ronin Tsang and Hawkins School seventh-grader Michael Cui.

All of the students study under Donna Mizuno and Lauren Goodall.
