Tracy driver Ryan Philpott moved up a step in the K&N Pro Series West points standing after his 10th-place finish last weekend at the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150 at Colorado National Speedway.
Philpott’s finish Aug. 6 pushed him into ninth place in points at 1,169, just ahead of David Mayhew at 1,061 points. He is still behind fellow series Rookie of the Year contender Dylan Kwasniewski of Las Vegas, 1,274 points, who took a big step forward with his first win of the series. Just two months past his 16th birthday, Kwasniewski is the youngest driver to claim a win in the 57-year-old series.
There are four races left in the 14-race series, including the Saturday, Aug. 13, Toyota TTC 150 at Montana Raceway Park in Kalispell, Mont.
